PowerNetizen.com – A devastating suicide bombing at a railway station in Quetta, southwestern Pakistan, claimed the lives of at least 25 people on Saturday. The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), a separatist militant group operating in the region, has taken responsibility for the attack.

The explosion occurred around 9 AM local time, targeting a platform crowded with passengers. The blast resulted in widespread chaos and injuries, with at least 53 people wounded. Emergency services rushed to the scene to provide aid to the victims.

Eyewitnesses described a horrific scene of panic and destruction. Many people were left injured or killed, some losing limbs in the explosion. The casualties included passengers, railway staff, and security personnel.

Authorities have initiated an investigation into the attack and have cordoned off the area. The Chief Minister of Balochistan, Sarfraz Bugti, has ordered a thorough inquiry.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif strongly condemned the attack, highlighting the ongoing insurgency in the region. The Balochistan Liberation Army has been increasingly active in recent years, especially since the development of the Gwadar port, a key component of China’s Belt and Road Initiative.

The BLA’s recent attacks, including the October incident targeting Chinese engineers, underscore the growing threat posed by the group and the challenges faced by Pakistani authorities in combating militancy in the region.
